Jan. 26 “Women come by” Camp River Dubois: wrote William Clark. What was life like for women of the early 1800s? Come observe frontier women cook over an open fire, sew their family’s garments and make candles.

May 10-11 Camp River Dubois, “Point of Departure”: Come and enjoy a glimpse of life while the Lewis and Clark Expedition get ready for their departure. History will come alive as you see costumed re-enactors and demonstrators. You’ll be able to see military life portrayed by The Detachment.

June 7 Kids’ Day: Come join the junior Corps of Discovery. Participate in rope making, military drill and flag folding. Learn to use a compass and telescope. Earn your Certificate of Enlistment by completing all the activities and be mustered in as a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Sept. 13 Music Festival 2008: Traditional music of the late 1700s and early 1800s performed by musicians in period dress.

Oct. 11-12 Flags over the Mississippi- Struggle for Empire: Control for the Mississippi River Valley, rich in natural resources, was fought for as European nations struggled to build their New World empires. Come and enjoy an interpretation of Spanish, French, British and American military life.

Dec. 13-14 Arrival at Camp River Dubois: Come celebrate the arrival of Lewis and Clark to Camp River Dubois. This annual special event commemorates December 12, the day William Clark and the men of The Detachment arrived at the confluence of the Rivière á Dubois, Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. The event will include members of The Detachment portraying military life, re-enactors recreating the civilian population and demonstrators.
