Lewis and Clark State Park was originally established in the 1950s at the Illinois shore facing the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.

The Lewis and Clark Confluence Memorial no longer stands but visitors can still see the center rock memorial and come enjoy a spectacular view of the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.
